Supplemental Programs

Supplemental Programs

At Rockland Skating Club, we believe that great skaters are built through well-rounded training, both on and off the ice. Our supplemental programs are designed to support and elevate our STAR Skate athletes by focusing on the key areas that enhance performance, boost confidence, and build strong, well-conditioned skaters. These programs are the perfect complement to our core skating curriculum, helping skaters refine technique, improve fitness, and explore new dimensions of their sport.

Power & Edges

Our Power & Edges classes are all about refining technique to build true skating power. Skaters work through focused drills in an open, unobstructed setting, which allows them to develop efficiency and control without sacrificing proper form.

  • Crosscut Technique focuses on posture, flow, and strength, helping skaters gain power through proper execution.

  • Edge-Turn Stroking trains fast transitions and precise weight shifts using turns and edges as the core of each drill.

  • Field Movement Stroking blends field moves, crosscuts, and turns to develop long, extended gliding at speed.

  • Creative Stroking encourages skaters to improvise within set patterns, building expression and awareness through movement.

These sessions help skaters become more efficient, confident, and technically sound, supporting every aspect of their on-ice performance.

Off-Ice Training

What happens off the ice matters just as much as what happens on it. Our off-ice training program is designed to build the strength, flexibility, balance, and focus needed for high-level skating, from powerful jumps to graceful spins.

Off-ice sessions may include:

  • Core strength and stability

  • Functional movement and conditioning

  • Aerobic and anaerobic training

  • Flexibility and mobility work

  • Creative expression and dance

  • Nutrition education and mental performance

  • Team-building and fun!

This well-rounded approach helps skaters stay strong, healthy, and motivated, whether they’re preparing for competition or just looking to improve overall performance.
